All the Writer's Notebook entries you should have... The most recent entries will be at the top! I will try and update weekly.Starting 3rd marking period....entries will be less "teacher" directed...We are transitioning our Writer's Notebooks into the hands of the "writers" of HR#235 and HR#236. You will have more opportunities to "free write" and compose various types of entries...poetry, songs, wonderings, memories, personal important moments, just to name a few. These "entries" will become the source of future longer pieces of writing. Hope you enjoy the change!
Second grading period: WRITER'S NOTEBOOKS WILL BE COLLECTED ON THURSDAY, JAN. 11TH!!! Entry #10: Make a web or list of possible tips you would give to a fourth grader on "How to Be Successful in 5th Grade". Think of this as a prewriting.Entry #9: Choose two objects or animals. Write a short story about them. Include Type #1 and #2 forms of dialogue. For example….imagine the scene between a chipmunk preparing for a long winter and a nut. Entry #8: What are the four times you should change paragraphs when writing? Give an example of each one. HINT: 2ps/2ts. Entry #7: Describe your ideal friend. It can be a real of fictictious person. Include character traits and examples to tell why he/she is an "ideal" friend.Entry #6: Make a list of people who you would like to thank at your Thanksgiving feast. Also, write what you would thank them for.Entry #5:Thanksgiving is almost upon us. Please tell me how you will be spending Thanksgiving. Who will you be with? Where will you be? What will you eat? (If you don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, please write about one of your favorite family memories.) Entry #4: A-Z All about Me: Make a list of the letters of the alphabet. Use each letter to start a word/phrase to tell me something about your personality. Entry #3: Describe your Monday-Friday afterschool schedule for 3:45-until bedtime. Be as specific as you can be. Entry #2: Describe three problems typical fifth graders face: in and out of school. Entry #1: Give clues for your Halloween costume without telling who/what you are...
